SYMUN 2022: PINEAPPLE PIZZA BROUGHTS SECURITY COUNCIL TOGETHER (PROBABLY FOR THE FIRST AND LAST TIME)

SYMUN 2022 starts with a great opening ceremony and lots of motivational speeches which encourage the delegates to the point of turning their concerned faces into smiles of confidence. But for motivational speeches, there he was our co-chair Luis Alberoa because even though he was missing his partner Miguel Cassanova, he was more than able to make the delegates feel comfortable by taking their pressure and nervousness off their shoulders. As he reaffirmed, his job is for everyone to be proud of themselves and I personally think that he has done a very great job.

After the correspondent presentations of all of the delegations, in which sciences and math were the main characters, the rules of procedures were explained. Concern and confusion was immediately reflected on delegates' faces although they tried to make it up by putting on serious faces. To test if the delegates had understood the procedure, a debate about if pineapple pizza was an atrocity or the creation of God was brought on into the committee and countries took it rather seriously, specially USA and UK, which were the ones that participated the most. After some interventions from countries like Japan or Germany, an unmoderated caucus was what the committee needed to collaboration to come up to the surface and to finally write the resolution paper in a record time of only 10 minutes.

I am waiting to see what this committee has to give because if the USA has already threatened Japan with a war over pineapple pizza, I have no idea what could happen when the lives of their citizens are at risk.
